Fatima Zahra Hassan

Fatima Zahra Hassan is a visual artist, educator and a researcher, trained in Indian, Mughal and Persian paintings. She specialises in the Arts of Book. Zahra studied sacred geometry and Islamic patterns with reference to an analytical and cosmological approach.

Zahra also studied Biomorphic Design with reference to surface design and embellishments. She has worked as an artist, designer and a consultant for various international organisations. She has undertaken many international art and design commissions from individuals, institutions and organisations. She is a visiting artist and academic in the UK and Pakistan. She also introduced new courses at the University of London’s World Art Programme in Asian and Middle Eastern Art and Design held at the British Museum in London. She has conducted numerous workshops and held talks in museums across the UK on Indo-Persian paintings. She is part of international research groups and often publishes on Middle Eastern and South Asian art with an approach that bridges both the practice with the theory.
